Former West Sumatra Police Chief Irjen Teddy Minahasa is facing charges for drug trafficking cases under Article 114 Paragraph 3 sub Article 112 Paragraph 2 Jo Article 132 Paragraph 1 Jo Article 55 Law Number 35 of 2009. As the hearing approaches, a video has been circulating on Facebook claiming that National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo has sentenced Teddy to death. by a Facebook account called Doa Ibu, shows a thumbnail photo of Teddy with the
Chief of Police and Coordinating Minister for Polhukam Mahfud MD. The picture
reads, Marwah Kapolri Tercemar, Listyo Sigit Murka Langsung Perintahkan Teddy Dihukum Mati. The video also includes footage
of a press conference by the Director of Drug Crime (Dittipidobat) of the
Criminal Investigation Agency (Bareskrim) of the National Police, Brigadier
General Krisno Halomoan Siregar. At 2:13, the narrator of the video conveys the
shocking confession of Irjen Teddy Minahasa, who said that many police members
set aside drug evidence to be sold later, which was responded to by Bareskrim.
Despite the
video's claims, there is no evidence that the National Police Chief has
sentenced Teddy to death. The Tribun Medan published an article on March 22,
2023, titled Bareskrim Bertindak Gara-gara Ucapan Irjen Teddy Minahasa, Polisi Sisihkan BB Narkoba untuk Dijual. The article reports on Brigadier
General Krisno's readiness to be audited regarding Teddy's statement about
police members setting aside drug evidence for sale but does not mention any
death sentence imposed by the Chief of Police on Teddy.
