Why Breakfast Is Important

In English, it's called "breakfast" (break=stop; fast=fasting) which means "stop fasting" or "fed back"; because in the night, ranging from eating the last to get up again, the body "fasts" for 8 to 10 hours.

In fact, during "the fasting", the body does not get any intake. The body system is still running and takes energy from the intake. When intake did not come, the body takes the energy reserves of the body, i.e. glycogen.

That's why, when wake up, the body generally experiences a lack of energy. On the morning before breakfast, blood sugar levels tend to fall when blood sugar is a source of energy. But after breakfast, energy reserves are increased. Two hours later, blood sugar levels are higher than during fasting.

Our body is like a race car that needs "fuel" to move at any time. Without "the fuel", certainly, "this car" will be halting when competing. Health experts suggest that breakfast is very important in contributing to energy for activities ranging from morning until noon.

Breakfast is the main energy source for the activity of blood cells, physical and brain, such as thinking, learning, remembering, and concentrating. Energy contribution of breakfast is sizable. With breakfast in accordance with the recommended servings of experts, i.e. 20-25% of the daily nutritional requirement needs, plus snacking in 2-3 hours later as much as 10-15% more, the body will gain significant energy up during the day when energy is supplied.

In addition to energy matters, breakfast also makes stomach refilled so that the stomach acid is neutralized. Stomach left empty for too long will increase stomach acid and cause the pain in the stomach. Therefore, for patients with ulcer, breakfast is very important that levels of stomach acid is maintained.

Some argue that the main meals two times, i.e. lunch and dinner, the body's nutritional needs are already being met. Nutritional needs may be met, but such a diet is dangerous to health. Therefore, when the body is hungry at noon after "fasting" more than 12 hours, the body will do "a revenge". In these circumstances, the stomach empty for some time, is suddenly stretched because of the invasion of food in large amounts. When this happens, it is quite possible that people will feel nausea, and abdominal pain, or other complaints. Not only that! The impact of such a diet will increase the risk of metabolic disorders such as high blood cholesterol.

Special provision of breakfast time is 10-12 hours after last dinner because at that time, the energy reserves is "empty" used by the body overnight to work organs nonstop. For the fact that no time for breakfast at home, take it. It can be eaten on the road, or at the office/school during recess.

Breakfast is also part of the diet one day. Hence, the principle of a balanced nutritional diet still applies, i.e. there is an element of complex carbohydrates such as rice, potatoes, cereals, and other dairy products such as bread, biscuits, crackers, noodles, and others. These nutrients should be 55-60%. Furthermore, do not forget the protein. Choose proteins such as eggs, milk, and yogurt. This nutritional composition should reach 10-15%, with fat content is 20-25%. Do not forget the adequacy of fiber too.
